Apr. 20th, 2005 01:22 pmI got up repeatedly this morning, and fell back asleep repeatedly. Finally got up at 8:45, and decided I wasn't going to make my MT1003 lesson. I did, however make my maths clinic and MT2005 lecture, which was possibly the most amazing lecture ever... He stood up, and, in a droning monotone said:"
000000 100101 010110 001011 110011 101110 011101 111000
100000 000101 110110 101011 010011 001110 111101 011000
010000 110101 000110 011011 100011 111110 001101 101000
001000 101101 011110 100011 111011 100110 010101 110000
000100 100101 010010 001111 110111 101010 011001 111100
000010 100111 010100 001001 110001 101100 011111 111010
000001 100100 010111 001010 110010 101111 011100 111001
100010 000111 110100 101001 010001 001100 111111 011010"
Yes, he recited 384 binary digits. The four of us in the back right (top) corner could barely contain our laughter. I think it was best expressed in this part of James' notes "01010 0011... etc. until you can speak the binary language computers use." It was incredible, I'm now more certain than ever that Dr C.M.Campbell is either a brilliant performance comedian, a malfunctioning robot, or an alien pretending to be a malfunctioning robot. But probably a comedian, who, like me, has forgotten how many levels of irony he's acting on. But, still, I can't imagine many lecturers doing what he did, requiring James to leave the lecture to laugh.
And, now, in Colour:
We all have things about our friends that make us slightly envious. Not in a bad way, but in a "Wow! I wish I had that person's hair, eyes, money, relationship, toe nails, whatever."
So tell me what about me makes you envy me, then if you post this in your LJ I'll tell you what makes me envious of you! *Grin*.
Now, playing AW2 with Ally and Jamie, then possibly heading to the pub later.
